Gaston County RFC Hosts Exciting CGRU Divisional Playoffs at Martha Rivers Park



Gaston County RFC is gearing up to host the Carolina Geographic Rugby Union (CGRU) divisional playoffs this weekend at the beautiful Martha Rivers Park. The event will bring together some of the region's most talented rugby teams for a day filled with fierce competition and camaraderie. The playoffs are free to the public, making it the perfect opportunity to witness the exhilarating world of rugby firsthand.


The playoffs will take place across two fields, with teams participating in various divisions including Men's D3 Silver, Men's D3 Gold, Women's D2, and Men's D2. The schedule for the day, on April 15th, 2023, is as follows:

  • 11:00am Field 1: Men's D3 Silver - Asheville vs Triad

  • 12:00 noon Field 2: Men's D3 Gold - Charleston vs Onslow

  • 1:30pm Field 1: Women's D2 - Charleston vs Eno

  • 2:30pm Field 2: Men's D2 - Charlotte vs Atlanta Renegades

Spectators can expect a central team pop-up location, likely situated between the two fields, providing easy access to all the action. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, wear comfortable walking shoes, and come ready to show their support for the top clubs in the union.


Martha Rivers Park, located at 1515 Neal Hawkins Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056, will serve as the picturesque setting for the CGRU divisional playoffs. With its well-maintained facilities and ample space for spectators, the park is an ideal venue for hosting this much-anticipated event.


Additionally, if you are on the other side of Charlotte and want to enjoy more rugby action, the Charlotte Royal RFC is playing Johnson City Rugby at the STEM Academy, located at 5203 Shopton Road, Charlotte, NC 28278, at 12PM on the same day, April 15th, 2023.
